The Palestinian Decision--Wavering

Update: This is good news; The U.S. today vetoed a U.N. Security Council resolution that would have condemned Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem as "illegal" and ordered all construction operations there to stop.

U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice said after the vote that the U.S. position should not be seen as a support for Israel's settlement program. "We reject in the strongest terms the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlement activity," she said. Source: ABC News


Looks like the USA is wavering on its position on the Palestinian state.

The U.S. informed Arab governments Tuesday that it will support a U.N. Security Council statement reaffirming that the 15-nation body "does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlement activity," a move aimed at avoiding the prospect of having to veto a stronger Palestinian resolution calling the settlements illegal.

But the Palestinians rejected the American offer following a meeting late Wednesday of Arab representatives and said it is planning to press for a vote on its resolution on Friday, according to officials familiar with the issue. It looks like Friday is the crucial day. Let's pray--for the sake of our country and our children--that we veto the resolution and do not support the U.N. security council statement.
